With the support of WHO and GAVI, the Syria Immunization Group continues to improve vaccination services in 36 maternity hospitals in northwest Syria, by recruiting 50 nurses to deliver hepatitis B vaccine to newborns and tetanus-diphtheria vaccine to women of childbearing age, especially pregnant women. These services contribute significantly to preventing hepatitis B in newborns and protecting women from tetanus and diphtheria, as well as protecting newborns from neonatal tetanus. This initiative also includes registering newborns in the electronic vaccination program registry (Tracker System), which facilitates the detection and follow-up of children who have not received any vaccine dose and vaccinating them.
